Psychoanalysis: The Unconscious in Everyday Life, 13th October 2010 – April 2011.

The exhibition celebrates the contribution of psychoanalysis to the understanding of the mind and culture. It aims to explore the broad contemporary relevance of psychoanalysis in a way that is accessible to a wide audience. Artefacts both historical and contemporary will be used as devices to explore the way in which the unconsciousness can be interpreted through everyday experiences.

Artist Sonny Sanjay Vadgama has been asked to create a work that reflects Freudʼs notion of the Uncanny. Working with graphics developer Jellyfish Pictures, his piece entitled ʻMatterʼ uses 3D animation and holographic technology to create a visual that engages the viewer to investigate and consider ways of interpreting the subject matter.

Other highlights include artworks by artists Grayson Perry, Noble & Webster and Mona Hatoum.
